Description of this photo

Frogs are amphibians that belong to the group of Anura. There are over 4,800 species of frogs in this world. Frogs have a stout body, cleft tongue and protruding eyes. Frogs live on land as well as in water. They live in fresh water and you can often find them in lakes and wells. Some frogs even live in the underground. Frogs have a special type of skin which explains their lifestyle. Their skin is glandular in structure and the glands secrete certain liquids. In some frogs these secretions are toxic in nature. Frogs come in different colors. Commonly they have a greenish brown skin. However, different species of frogs have different types of skin. Some have spots on their skin which enables them to blend with their background. Their skin acts like a camouflage that protects them from their predators. Certain frogs have yellow, red and even black colored skins. The toxicity of their skin can be judged by their color. Frogs always lay eggs in water. These eggs get hatched to give out small tailed creatures called tadpoles. Some of the tadpoles are herbivorous while some are omnivorous. However, when they become fully grown frogs they are carnivorous in nature. Frogs mostly spend their lives in moist and damp places. Their skin type makes them prone to dehydration. For this reason frogs are often found floating in water. Frogs are well known for their croaking sounds. They often produce more sounds during night times. During the breeding season frogs often create different types of voices in order to attract their partners. Over the past 50 years the population of frogs has exhibited a steady decline. Around 33% of the frog species have come under the criterion of endangered species. Reduction in natural habitats and forests are considered as a possible reason behind this phenomenon. Several researches are being conducted to resolve this situation.
