Description of this photo

Broadcasting transmitters are used for the purpose of allowing people to listen to the radio, watch television or connect to digital networks. The majority of them look alike, much like the one that you see pictured on this photo. The colors vary; some transmitters are black or grey, while others are as the one pictured; white and red. The white and red transmitters are painted in distinctive color so they can be easily seen from great distances. They are basically tall towers, and some of them are shorter than others, and some are narrower, while others are wider. The type of transmitter that is installed in certain areas of a continent all depends upon the consistency of the use or need for it. Broadcasting or radio transmitters are often located on or near the site of the broadcasting station so that whatever message is being sent out is done so successfully with a precise signal. On each broadcasting transmitter, there is an area where the modulator, the oscillator and the audio processor is located, and this is what is known as the exciter. The amplifier that is known as the exciter is often called the transmitter by the engineers who build it. The input that is executed by the broadcasting transmitter is what is called the transmitter power output (TPO). One thing to keep in mind however is that radio stations are not rated by what type of TPO they use. The importance of the quality of the transmitting signal is determined by the antenna. When it comes to large transmitting stations for VHF and UHF, the power is used at about 20% per the effective radiated power (ERP). The transmitters often require high powers of voltage depending upon the area that they are used in.
