I REALLY ENJOYED OUTLOOK FROM THE TOP OF THE STRECNO CASTLE!

Here is an outlook I enjoyed standing right on the top of the highest tower of the Strecno castle, looking downwards to the castle's fortifications and surrounding countryside. The village of Varin and the Vah river can be seen in the distance as well as the mountains of Mala Fatra, National Nature Reserve. The majestic ruins of this Gothic castle are situated 7 kilometers /4.3 miles east from the town of Zilina, seated in the region of the same name, northern Slovakia.

This castle is rightfully considered to be one of the most popular historical travel destinations in the whole Slovak republic. As you can see the ruins of the Strecno are well-preserved and historically conserved with a great care. Even because of that this castle is proudly opened for public as an open-air museum, featuring endless attractions for its visitors. Tourists can see a lot of historical exhibitions there, including diversified indoor-museums in covered parts, various art performances, festivals and much more.

Did you know this castle is also a popular location for filming fairytale and historical movies?! Amongst other movies filmed at this locality, exteriors of the castle of Strecno were featured in the fantasy adventure movie Dragonheart (1996).

The Strecno castle is declared as a national cultural heritage of a great importance and it is definitely worth a visit. If you will be nearby don't forget to tour it. This location has so much to offer, both for regular tourists looking for museum exhibitions, medieval performances or various art exhibitions, as well as for photographers looking for some picturesque historical sceneries and open-air sightseeings! ;)
